Apprenticeships

A Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship is a key progression into becoming a Cyber Security Technologist. This will require the dedication of 18-24 months of a learner's time, which should be considered when you apply.

A Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship will see you working for a business, performing Cyber Security Technologist services for them such as understanding security concepts and technology as well as how to mitigate risks arising from threats.

As well as dedicated days of learning at the college, you are effectively being taught how to be a Cyber Security Technologist through practical experience in the workplace and through lessons provided by the college by tutors.

As an Apprentice, you are paid for the work you are doing and how much is dependent on your employer.

Typical Jobs you can apply for:

  • Cyber operations manager

  • Cyber risk analyst

  • Intelligence researcher

  • Security analyst

  • Security architect

As this is a level 4 Apprenticeship, you are able to learn while you earn and can negotiate your wage up to £18,000 per year.

One-to-one Support

You will have a Skills Coach (SC) and a Digital Programme Coordinator (DPC) assigned to support you throughout your apprenticeship.

DPC will contact you every other week to discuss your progress about Knowledge module training progress to check whether you are understanding the training and also discuss about your work placement opportunities to gather evidence for your Summative portfolio.

The Skill coach will work with you to develop your portfolio of evidence for End Point Assessment. He / She will support you to gather evidence for various workplace projects.

Both will support your employer (Technical line manager) to complete your Employer Reference, a document which highlights key competency and behaviours you have demonstrated for the final assessment as part of the End Point Assessment.

In every one-to-one session, we will set up an action plan with SMART targets for you to complete, so that you can progress your apprenticeship smoothly and achieve your apprenticeship as LVC planned.

Government Requirements Information

In practice the government applies one identical eligibility checklist to every apprenticeship, whether it sits at Level 3 or Level 4. The first 5 items above are the only requirements written into the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) funding rules and GOV UK guidance.

GCSEs, A-levels or other academic grades are not mandated by law and can be added (or waived) by individual employers and providers. A policy change will shorten the minimum programme length from 12 months to 8 months for new starts on or after 1 August 2025.
